What is a typing test?
A typing test measures how many words per minute (WPM) you type and how accurately. One word counts as five characters, and only correctly typed words count toward your score. Wrong words are crossed out and lower your accuracy, so speed alone is not enough.
Typing speed levels
- Beginner: under 30 WPM
- Average: 40 WPM
- Good: 50 to 70 WPM
- Fast: 80 WPM or more

How is WPM calculated?
WPM is the number of correctly typed characters divided by five, divided by the minutes of the test. Wrong words do not add to the score.
What is a good typing speed?
The average is around 40 WPM. Above 60 WPM is good, and 80 WPM or more is fast. Accuracy above 95% matters as much as speed.
Can I go back and fix a word?
No. When you press Space the word is final, as in most typing tests. Inside the current word you can use Backspace freely.
Is my text or score stored anywhere?
No. Everything runs in your browser. Only your best score is saved, on this device, in local storage.
