Paste the names, choose how many teams and hit Generate teams.
Tip: *Name = captain (one per team). Name:5 = skill level, for balancing.
Type or paste the names into the Players box, one per line: your five-a-side group, a class list or a work team.
Pick "Number of teams" to split into 2, 3 or more teams, or "People per team" to build teams of 5, 6 or any size you like.
Put * before captains' names so they end up on different teams. For even teams, add a skill level after a colon (Sam:5) and tick "Balance by skill level".
Click Generate teams. Teams appear as coloured cards, ready to copy or send straight to your WhatsApp group.
At the weekly kickabout, a random draw ends the argument over who picks first. With 12 players and "People per team" set to 6 you get two teams of six. If 14 turn up, you get three teams with one a player short, or set "Number of teams" to 2 for 7 against 7.
For closer games, give each player a rating from 1 to 5 (Sam:5, Leo:2) and tick "Balance by skill level". The strongest players are spread first, one per team, and the rest fill the teams so their total ratings stay close. Players with the same rating are still placed at random.
Teachers use the group generator for projects, quizzes and activities. Paste the class list, set "People per team" to 4 and you have groups of four, with no picking friends and nobody left out. Mark the students who will lead each group as captains.
Yes. Players are shuffled with crypto.getRandomValues, the browser's cryptographic generator, using rejection sampling so there is no bias. Without levels or captains, every possible split is equally likely. Everything runs on your device and names are never uploaded.
Write each person's level after their name with a colon (for example Ava:4) and tick "Balance by skill level". The strongest are placed first and the rest fill the teams so total levels stay similar.
Put an asterisk before the name (*Ben). Captains are spread first, one per team; everyone else is drawn afterwards.
Teams are made as equal as possible, so some get one extra person. With 11 players in 2 teams, for example, you get a team of 6 and a team of 5.
After generating, click "Send on WhatsApp". The message comes pre-formatted with the teams; just pick the chat and send.
Yes. It uses crypto.getRandomValues with rejection sampling, which gives equal probabilities. Each "Shuffle again" produces an independent split.
